I love how the episode is named The Wire, and Garak's story of him and Elim was basically "The Downfall of Avon Barksdale and Stringer Bell" what with the good friends betraying each other and it's just a question of who betrays first.

The cross-series continuity is why, as much as I hate the Maquis, I love the fact that they are in the Trek universe. I mean, an episode which could have been seen as just a weird vehicle for Wesley Crusher's Ascension becomes the basis for story arcs across three series. That is pretty cool.
