That article doesn't come off as alarmist at all!
Simmons is getting a little grating, but he can still be pretty good when he doesn't get bogged down with trying to stick as many mentions of Boogie Nights and Battle of the Network Stars into his articles as possible.
If you haven't read the essays before, IV is pretty good. Certainly better than Dinosaur (which wasn't terrible, but was lacking).
Agreed. The show really came into its own last season, and I'm quite excited to see if the show can improve even more this year.
Damn pinko , trying to get one by the good citizens of the AVCLub!
On Earth-2, vagina usage is more played out than fat guys with hot wives on sitcoms, ironically a recent innovation in comedy there.
I want to own that book so much.
New Girl is bad, yeah, but it's not like Fox has any good comedies that would be impacted by this.
Of course, I'm sure this will lead to a spate of ripoffs two years from now but…
I know it didn't premiere on that night, but The Big Bang Theory.
1997.
Follow-up: "Cool story, bro!"
Mankind need not be governed!
Def. Men. I think that, at one time, TBBT was close to something resembling a decent sitcom- more than you can say for 2.5 Men.
The first half hour was a fine outing, but the second kind of suffered. An A doesn't seem too offensively horrifying.
My Sister, My Sitter is pretty good, but of S2-8 it's my least favorite. I'd give it a C+ or B-, which speaks to how consistently good The Simpsons used to be.
Is "Kamp Krusty" next week, or is there a break?
The Cuckoo's Nest gag in the hospital is my favorite gag in any true clip show ever.
I love Whacking Day, but I can see why you'd say that. It doesn't hold up as well as any of the non-clip show episodes from the back half of S4.
Another Simpsons Clip Show, definitely. The vignette-style of the clips doesn't work at all. Not counting clip shows- My Sister, My Sitter.
