I actually thought there was an uptick in quality for season six, especially since five was a complete clusterfuck.  My main problem with last season is that they put the gang into an impossible situation, which was solved way too easily (of course, I have no clue what else they could have done other than just have

My least favorite internet critique of movies is the "plot hole." Sure enough, there are movies with ridiculous plots holes that ruin those films.  But most of the "plot holes" that the internet harps on are actually problems of critics not being able to understand context clues.

I've seen a few of these honest trailers, but because they mostly rehash the usual internet whining (whether it's legit or not) I usually forget them right away. I had forgotten about the Skyfall honest trailer until you mentioned it. I had the same reaction. Most of the issues they complained about didn't make sense

I don't get the appeal of these honest movie trailer guys.  They just point out the same problems with movies that others have already articulated.  Only this time they do it with a movie guy voice.

Funny, "The B. Team" was the episode where I really started to get into the groove of this new season.  I would say it's at this moment where things started to click, even if there are some wonky moments in later episodes.

Truth.  My feelings for Ridley Scott have gone from fatherly disappointment all the way to outright denial of his existence.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should read the book.  I've only read The Crying of Lot 49 by Pynchon.  Is it worth it, po-mo lit fans?

And to top that scene off, McClane picks up a teddy bear that we saw a little girl holding onto not five minutes earlier.  That's some dark shit.

I'm going to chime in with some Die Hard with a Vengeance love and also agree that the ending undermines the momentum of the film.  But I also think the Russian Roulette alternate ending was even worse.  Despite the last two terrible sequels, the original Die Hard trilogy was solid all the way through.

I knew that the internet had turned against Shyamalan, but the trailers for Devil, which he produced.  When the announcer guy tells the audience, "from M. Night Shyamalan," everyone in the theater groaned simultaneously.  It was then that I knew people now associated his name with Lady in the Water than with The Sixth

Justin Vernon already has one phoned in album under his belt, so what's a few more.

Thank you for this piece.  The misuse of pretentious has bothered me for a long, long time.  I completely agree that for the most part it is a reflection on the person who uses the word.  It means, this is art that I don't like or don't understand.

Yeah, I think it was about his violin playing.  It may have been Dr. Pulaski.  She was always giving him shit.  I remember rewatching the first Moriarity episode of TNG a few years ago, and the entire time she's getting on his case, claiming that he can't actually have original thoughts, that he can only synthesize

I said this after watching Supe 8 and it seems even more apt here: J.J. Abrams is the cliche of the piano student who is brilliant at hitting the notes, but for some reason just can't reproduce the feeling of the music.  He's not a terrible director.  I enjoy his movies while I watch them.  But ultimately they're

Judging a television show based on the pilot is inherently flawed.  Most great shows start off with a shaky beginning.  Without actually sitting down and talking to the creatives about their vision for the show and looking at their past work, I don't know how you could possibly pick what, in the long run, will be

This small screen stuff is fine, so long as they don't mess with the trilogy.  I don't want a fourth installment that's going to muck everything up, like Indy 4 and Die Hard 4.0.  Besides, the series ended on a perfect note.

I saw the article title and thought to myself, "Did I somehow transport myself back to the 90s?"  I also thought to myself, "You know, a lot of the 90s really sucked.  I should be less nostalgic for that decade."

Why does everyone think a long sentence automatically equals a run on?  What has happened to our knowledge of grammar in this country!

This episode reminded me somewhat of the clip shows that they used to do.  The plot never really moves forward and the writers just rely on the fact that the audience likes past episodes.  Similarly, this episode relied on nostalgia for older episodes of Community and the fact that it's a dream means that the plot
