I think Miller was a little more self aware back in the day.  While the comic does, at times, valorize fascistic violence, there are also plenty of moments that complete our acceptance of this violence.  The politics of the book are a little schizophrenic, but that's also why it's still interesting decades later.

One thing I don't get about the above pro-Palmer argument above is that supposedly you are allowed to stop buying her records and going to her shows if you don't like her actions, but if you actually decide to voice your opinion, then you're "entitled."  Did I miss something here?  When does speaking out against

What is up with those musicians and fans wanting people to be paid for their labor?  What a bunch of entitled brats!

This column has done a wonderful job of bringing out all of the conflicted feelings I had for this book.  I followed it for a long, long time, but eventually Kirkman's on the nose, expository dialogue finally did me in.  I still think it was a cool premise, though.

Punk's difficult to define.  I remember reading music magazines back in the 90s that referred to Sonic Youth and Nirvana as punk bands all the time.  When the author says "punk" what he really means is "revivalist punk."  I think a lot of bands in the 80s and 90s were retroactively defined as alternative.

Yeah, but they were the lame 18 to 49 year olds.

Why didn't anyone offer me a position in the New World Order?  I'd chuck my religious beliefs to the side in a second.

I still buy CDs.  Like Kyle, I'll buy mp3s when I'm buying an album from a band that I'm not too crazy about.  They're either new, and I'm not familiar with them, or I just can't decide if I really like their sound.  But even then I usually rely on amazon's $5 deals.  For some reason I just can't wrap my head around

More than any other character, Mr. Fries's episodes seem to run together to make one longer movie (including Subzero, the direct to video movie he appears in).  You could tell that the creators really loved this character.
