Agent Irino Duderevko
Surprisingly good. Like, Karl Urban as Bones surprising.
The Agent Carter sequence just made me really wish I was watching Agent Carter.
Utilising Hulk's rogues is pretty smart - it's not like he's using them. I still wish the theory about the clairvoyant being The Leader was true.
If there's any critique I could make, it's that the new character played by Henry Simmons, was not Luke Cage.
Yeah, Ward being Hydra is pretty much the only cool thing to happen on the show. Not making him a True Believer in their ideologies was already chickening out though.
I've grown to dislike the Paternoster Gang (partially due to overuse), so I completely share this desire. Unfortunately, I think Moffatt is too attached to the pre-existing characters for the new Doctor to have his own equivalents.
Man, I loved those worms. This might seem like a silly thing to say for a show like Doctor Who, but I was really appreciative of the practical effects on display. The worms, the Teller…actually, just the general production design this episode, because I really liked the gold armour that the bank's security wore too.…
I do now.
*write sci-fi heist episode of Doctor Who*
*include line about being old and full of regret*
I'm sure the online short featuring the Time War made mention of this. The one with the military.
"the nonexistent monster makes no sense because we've seen a half dozen who monsters who work exactly this way"
"We have NEVER seen backstory on the Doctor's childhood before."
I've never really understood the fuss around the face (i'm guessing it's mostly nostalgia-based "that's the way I remember it" stuff when it comes to having a preference for it in the credits) but this is easily the best Credits Face I've seen, and I say that as someone who isn't crazy about the credits around it.
Sticking 11 in it hurt the episode if only because it reminded me just how good Smith was from the outset, and how much everything I'd just seen paled in comparison.
Oh totally, and that made it a little irritating to me to be honest. I mean, a one of remark, sure, but berating your audience (or at least a part of it) for the duration of the show, reiterating that the character is "not [their] boyfriend"? Pretty sucky objective.
He didn't start to be a character to me until he flicked his coat back to show the red lining and gave Clara that little speech about mistakes and the odd crap year in thousands.
"nothing in this episode quite landed Twelve the same way his predecessor was so deftly established from the moment he popped out of the TARDIS to when he examined the crack in the wall of Amelia's bedroom"
I thought this was an absolutely worthless episode. I enjoyed the few moments towards the end where they actually went inside the TARDIS and hung around a little in present day Britain, but that was it. Aside from the odd fun bit of post-regen freakout from Capaldi the episode was absolute garbage. Really, really bad…
