I don't think we're supposed to hate Skyler, and I don't hate her at all.  I'm with you on Anna Gunn's acting capabilities, though; she's great.  I have no idea where the criticism is coming from.

Exactly.  It reminded me a lot of Walt and Jesse stealing the barrel, or trying to elude Hank in the RV in the junkyard.  And, not only that, but I thought the magnet scheme did deepen the characters: It's what finally tipped Walt into full-on, permanent megalomania.  And we got to see just about everybody else…

I agree.  I like how the show has been presenting her trip to the dark side; she's still relatively sane and compassionate—with normal human emotions, like Jesse and unlike Walt—yet she's beginning to scheme and intimidate with the best of them.

Wait, what am I missing?  Even if this person has seen the season somehow, it's not much of a spoiler to say it's going to be eventful, is it?  I mean, based on past seasons alone, it seems like a safe assumption.  I think I'll still manage to enjoy it with this foreknowledge.
