For an 11-year old, I recommend The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. as a supplement to a steady diet of Star Trek.

The thing about shows like Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Night Gallery and X-Files is that I tend to be unnerved, rather than frightened by them. Episodes can be deeply unsettling and stick with me for a long time, but they don't raise the blood pressure, if you see what I mean. I think it might be the time constraint

@HatintheCat: You could argue that the twist of "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" was that there was no twist - SPOILER - yes, the aliens were watching, but they didn't actually DO anything. Just human behavior spiraling further and further out of control. Ditto "The Encounter."

There was a pretty good one in Mad Men this season, as boring ad pitch minutia was going on in the conference room while in the background Pete struggled to remove the dead secretary Blankenship from her desk.

Sue and Kurt should have duet-ed Dan Bern's "God Said No."

I thought of The Untouchables too! In fact I believe I grabbed my girlfriend's collar and spat "What are you prepared to do?!"

Look, kids, I'm just glad these recaps are back. Who are we mere non-AV Club employed mortals to quibble with the vagaries of the schedule?

I remember being in college when this episode aired, and having heard for months that it was so shocking it was banned from the airwaves. Naturally I was skeptical, and gathered some of my most skeptical and X-files-loving friends with me to watch it. We saw the "viewers be warned! here there be monsters!" warning and

IMPOTENCE
I'M SICK OF IT!

"No one's gonna give you an award for Two and Half Men, fuckers."

HAH! Behold the renewal of the X-Files recaps! I am VICTORIOUS!

Nice. Mr. Davies, yes, yes. Or Alexis Denishof. Actually, I have him down for playing Jonathan Strange. IN MY MIND!!

Familiar…
Is Harold Schechter going to have to choke and/or sue a bitch?

I liked when he called Lrrr "skinny."

In all my years of covering top-secret discoveries with sheets, I've never dramatically revealed something as shocking as this.

They're also more full-realized than any girlfriend character in any "guy movie" ever.

Some intrepid soul, posting on an episode recap from season one, suggested that Mulder's mantra might be "I want to believe" but Scully's is "I want to understand." Whoever you are, you got it exactly right IMHO. I agree with The Information that over time Scully's point of view becomes more sympathetic, precisely

No kidding. And also, Mohinder sucks. His overwrought monologues and easily 70% of his dialogue caused exasperated sighs of "Oh, shut UP, Mohinder" around my house.

Right before the scene with CSM and Mulder in the car, Scully thinks she hears Mulder talking about her outside her motel room. That little bit made my stomach hurt. Of course it's her biggest fear - that Mulder has been playing her for a chump the whole time. That everything she's done for him has just made her look

I miss those interviews. They aren't on my DVDs. Does anyone know where to find them?
