I hate that. I hate tumblr for a multitude of reasons, and yeah, shallow radicalization of politics run rampant on it—where mistyped, poorly written screeds are often described as manifestos—but easily the worst thing about it is just that people use it as a lazy, catchall straw man whenever a topic they dislike comes

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but whenever I see a sentence with soft modifiers that feel like they're used to hedge bets on the statement, all I can think of is Orwell's "Politics and the English Language," and it probably pisses me off potentially more than most, though perhaps not all, tics in modern—or at least,

Well, I think the marketing budget was also $150 mil on top of that? I think that's where the "bomb" stuff is coming from.

I've listened to "Help Me Lose My Mind" more times than I'm willing to admit. My current song of the year. Perfect closer for that album.

You're only "on" a line when there's psychically a line underneath you. But when there's no

Fuuuck. Gonna have to rewatch Snatch now.

Crossing the Fast & Furious universe with the Marvel universe is EXACTLY what would get me interested in super hero movies again.

@avclub-12a6b31534819f646bd9bf5e8a99756d:disqus I mean, it's not that big a deal? The comic storylines are still there and everything.

I love this comment so much I want to take it behind a middle school and get it pregnant.

Careful, he'll complain about your criticism on Twitter.

That soundtrack is a goddamn treasure. Gonna listen to it for the rest of work.

Nah, he's done, son. Said so on Twitter.

Well, because standing on line makes no sense. I've been here for almost ten years, and it still boggles my mind.

Some day you will have to accept your destiny.

I thought this segment of Watchmen was, ironically do to the character it focused on, really where the emotion came through. It's when I really fell in love with the book.

@Big_Knife:disqus Really? Where are you at? I haven't seen anything for it outside subway ads.

Jawesome!

I'm intrigued to see how it will do in Japan. Everyone keeps saying "Robots are HUGE over there; it's going to do so well!!!!" but I think that tends to overlook both that the otaku culture isn't actually mainstream (and sometimes looked down on) and Japan tends to love lots of crappy, hyper-American shit.

Combination of this and Prometheus means probably. I wonder if a bigger name star could've drawn more of a mainstream crowd. The advertising I saw also didn't do any "From the director of…" stuff. I guess all they could've done was Hellboy probably, but while that didn't net a lot, it might've helped.
