Eric Idle is one of those people that I'm surprised never worked with the Muppets.  The closest they ever got was this guy, who kinda looks like him: http://muppet.wikia.com/wik…

I love these reviews.  I hope we get season three… I'd say I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I'm a rod-hand puppet so my fingers don't move.

Same here, except I was probably in high school.

I had the same thought.  Robin and Barney is pretty boring, but Barney and Victoria would have piqued my interest.

It has a kind of old-fashioned comedy vibe to it.  All he's doing is making words sound like other words… Somehow it's funny, but I have to think it would never make it on the air on today's SNL.

Yeah, Hooks was great. If I were to assemble an all-time all-star SNL cast, she would definitely be on the list.

Most underrated SNL cast member ever?  His run is overshadowed (like everyone else's at that time) by Eddie Murphy, but he was probably the third-most-used cast member at the time, after Murphy and Piscopo.

Dr. Jack Badofsky.  I've been watching those seasons on Netflix, and they did that bit over and over and over again.  One of the funniest was where two cards were in the wrong order, so the joke he said out loud didn't match the card he was holding, and it took him a minute to realize the audience was laughing at the

Yeah, I love the "while and at the same time" turn of phrase, which Gonzo used several times on the show.  I think once he even said "while simultaneously and at the same time."

Sure, Sellers commits to it admirably. But I just couldn't overlook Link's apparent pain.  I wonder, would it have been funnier if Link had seemed to enjoy the whole thing? Or would that make it less funny?

This makes me want to watch the "Sea Chanty" number again.  I'm most familiar with it from one of the Muppet Show records, so it my mind it's flawless, and a delightful use of all the Muppet guys in the same number.  But my memory of it is probably based mostly on whatever my brain conjured up while listening to the

I first saw that sketch on one of those Playhouse Video compilations when I was probably about eight years old, and dang.  I felt so sorry for Link… Henson's performance with all its yelps and groans was so convincing that it was impossible for me to find it funny.  And then he just leaves him all tangled up on the

Yeah, it's an odd lyric.  Maybe Julie Andrews is her reincarnated self and she was a fish in a former life?  And she went around singing "The gills are alive…"

Cool.  Sounds like this should have its own page on the Muppet Wiki!

I never thought about it before, but yeah, Kermit's opening-number appearances are pretty rare.  I think "Disco Frog" and "Friendship" were opening numbers… Were there any others?

I didn't even know about the flash.  All I knew about Jaye P. Morgan was that she was on the Gong Show and she was a Muppet Show guest star.  She was really funny in this episode, though… I'm glad they didn't go to the gimmick of the cranky guest star too often, but it worked quite well when they did (see also Cleese,

If you haven't seen all of "Julie on Sesame Street," you should at least watch the Broadway musicals medley.  Her performance of "Hey Big Spender" is surprisingly sexy, even as Cookie Monster eats everything on the set.
