I'll admit I could have phrased my original post to sound much less douchey. All I was trying to say was that it isn't impossible to learn how to play his stuff, it just takes work (I thought I had clarified this later, but apparently not). No disrespect to Hammett, as he was clearly a big influence on me. That

Did I ever once say that Kirk was a bad guitarist because I could play his stuff, or that I was better than him for the same reason?

I did have TAB books and all that, but there was a bit of ear training to it as well (so it's only half-cheating). I used the books to get the notes under my fingers, and then listened to the albums to get the timing, articulations and everything just right. Seriously, that was *all* I spent my time doing. I mean,

I read "HOME MOVIES SOUNDTRACK" that and all I could think of was:

Not saying I mastered it at all, just that there are a lot of guitarists who's technique is much harder to grasp. I spent about a year learning tons of Kirk's leads, and after a while I ran out of stuff I could learn from him. Whereas I could spend a decade trying to get every Jeff Beck lick under my fingers, even

MASTER OF PUPPETS FUCKING OWNS

I used to worship him as well. Then I learned a shit ton of his leads and moved on to more complicated stuff. I was 13, I believe.

Part III is a good movie on it's own. The problem is that when you compare it to the first two, it doesn't hold up at all. Of course, the first two are two of the greatest films ever made, so that doesn't help Part III's case.

Vertigo may be a bit of an acquired taste for kids. I'd pick something more action packed to start them off with. Maybe "North by Northwest" or the aforementioned "Man Who Knew Too Much."

Breathless isn't very easy to digest, but it's an interesting movie. Personally, I'm more of a Truffaut man.

And I can't imagine any kid not liking Ghostbusters.

Best Shel line:

My mom did the same for me when I was 14.

Agreed. Kids are much smarter and more open minded than most adults give them credit for. I mean, if they can sit through the 30 minute wordless beginning of WALL-E, they can easily take this kind of glorious fantasy.

Saturday, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest. That means that I don't work, I don't get in a car, I don't fucking ride in a car, I don't pick up the phone, I don't turn on the oven, and I sure as shit DON'T FUCKING ROLL!

No way. It's a great kids movie and is beautifully animated, but it doesn't have much of a story when compared to Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away.

YES!!!
This is one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.

Have you seen the new Poof?

How do we filter out the teases? We don't let them in. This goes for the guys, too. Because sometimes the guys are tapped out. But check your lease, man. Because you're living in Fuck City!
