I believe that in at least a couple of episodes, Nick chats up Sarah in the Hallway, and i always thought she had a thing for Nick, which is why they getting together never bothered me.
Also, I had once heard Apatow, maybe it was on WTF, that if the show had gone ahead, that Sam would have blossomed and left the Geeks…
