I find it interesting that Martin Scorsese has never done a directors cut (to my knowledge) of any of his films. Apparently, he doesn't believe in it. Theatrical is king to him. His friends have all done some tinkering here and there, but not him. I guess it's the historian in him.

That scene in Shock Corridor is an interesting comparison, but I think Chappelle arrived at his sketch independently.  One is about the trauma of racism, the other about blind ignorance.

Youth of the Beast is awesome! Any movie with hitmen swinging from a chandelier upside down while shooting for their life is a must see. I wouldn't be too mad at a remake of this one, since that story has been told hundreds of time, but no one can re-create Seijun Suzuki's insanity.

I wouldn't say all artists are assholes, but as their career goes on and more acclaim comes to them, they are certainly prone to getting a tad "uppity". Although I'm sure some people act like assholes because they think that's what an artist is supposed to act like.

Tarantino comparisons
I love this series and it kind of sucks that whenever a piece of fiction has cool dialogue, twisting storylines, men in suits, etc, it has to be seen as Tarantino-esque. I love Tarantino's movies, but aren't people forgetting that those things existed before the guy was born?

Ditto. In film school right now and there is nothing a Netflix account and a wifi connection can't teach you. Just shell out some money for a camera and you have all the film school you need.
