Religious overtones without having to force the Superman = Jesus metaphor, btw.

The double headed eagle is pretty common as a symbol. You see it on a lot of coinage, for example.

You don't see a lot of modded GI Joe figures, especially given the plethora of actually decent superhero figures these days. I suppose the scale of the guy's environments and props fit the 3 1/4 figs better than, say, some DC Direct stuff.

Yes. It's "like" a job, indeed.

Is this Archer?

This is the kind of toy invented for parents so they don't have to read to their kids.

The lead singer is Butthead's cousin or something, I'm pretty sure.

Huh. I went to high school with a Manny Bothans.

They just reviewed the whole season (it seems). That could be like a warning.

I don't give two shits for Matt Murdock or Jessica Jones, but I was reading Power Man & Iron Fist before I was out of grade school. Luke Cage is one of the best characters at Marvel, and I am really excited to see him get the full Shaft treatment (phrasing!). This looks like it's going to be awesome!

Black Panther ain't no deadbeat like Vickie Doom.

Can't we have a nice, civil discussion about those?

Sometimes - just sometimes - the system works.

Yeah. To borrow a phrase from Red Meat, it wasn't just awful. It was god-awful.

I know Bob Harras is still employed (by DC, no less) but are the other two men actually going concerns?

That's right. This is an industry where Scott Lobdell still gets work.

John Byrne re-use a plot idea? The deuce, you say!

Either way, I think we can all agree that magical superhero pregnancies are just a terrible idea.

He does look like he's about to drop his illusion or transform into a mecha in that last panel.
