Whoa.

I never really read that scene as directly anti-American (terrifying first, you really believe he would have killed your children without as much as a blink), but more internationally if that makes any sense.

Humble opinion, but Jimi's singing and playing here basically owns all of this by a thin margin.

I think he does the electric version still. There's a version he did a few years later (the Barcelona DVD) that is with the full band but (and maybe this is informed by the above version) the words are delivered in a manner different from the  original recorded work.

I identify with the speech on more of a dramatic level than with the specifics. I'm always interested in characters who make drastic left-turns in their lives, typified by the scene in Network. On some level it's cathartic, because the emotional message behind it is that we can change, but just ourselves. That we have

I really like this version because Bruce's voice basically puts you face to face with the lyrics, uncluttered by the more energetic electric version we all know.

Of course it wasn't him, it was some assistant who probably heard it in his car on his way to the WH.

This is a Shrek movie?

Guess we'll know if it rains.

He's also pretty great in his small role in the otherwise meh Mike Myers axe-murder girlfriend movie.

I'm guessing there is some venting, because of the scene with the water coming in like a sieve.

DVR'd the pilot last night and didn't realize the 2nd episode was on tonight so I recorded that too (minus the first four minutes). I haven't read the book, but I like the show.

But oddly it would sound more King-like.

He also had the Andy Rooney spot on 60 Minutes 2.

I love the score. I have a lot of more typical scores but this is the only Elfman one on my iPod. I like his Batman stuff, but it doesn't work as well with me on it's own. This one does however.

He doesn't have any dialogue in it if I remember right. That film was a lot of firsts, for some pretty big names too.

I didn't. I'm not great at dissecting this stuff sometimes. I just noticed a few basic similarities between the two.

Don't let her lose the number either.

I have to admit I thought she'd just dump him at first. Killing makes more sense.

Yes.
