I know I wear my prog-fan credentials here proudly, but I could never really get into Hawkwind. Mostly because I think Pink Floyd did the "space rock" thing better, mostly without trying.

An ultra-deluxe edition (including a 5.1 mix from Steven Wilson, who worked on much of King Crimson's catalog, as well as Jethro Tull and ELP) has just come out for that one I believe.

He did a pretty good "Random Roles" several months back, too. And was spectacularly good in his small part on The West Wing, which single-handedly got him this gig I think.

It wasn't even on CBS, NBC right?

Another example of how accurate Carlin's bit about euphemisms is.

If any of us did something as cool as that with a short period of our lives, we'd never shut up about it.

He didn't ask to be treated as such though.

"Run" is an awful song, but at least it gave us "Jealous Guy".

For the record, I think Styx are pretty awful and I don't mind them being pariahs here. They dumbed down the formula of Yes and combined it with Barry Manilow. Utter, utter shit.

James Spader looked more like Ray (and he was in Wall Street).

The two things I remember most about "Homewrecker" was how disturbing and angering the opening made me. And Chiklis' doing that great move, bringing down the blinds at the end. Errol Flynn would have been proud.

That's basically what I meant by the Beiber comment.

That's not my impression of what everybody interviewed thought, but it has been a prevailing mentality with a few people until recently. The genre has had a resurgence with newer bands taking a more fresh approach to the genre. The overwhelming negative response from the critical intelligentsia has been taken as

The lyrics were a joke on someone, too.

Like a rap beat or a roast beef?
