I'm late to the comment boards on this, but I'm amazed no one recognized the acid-trip at Mardi Gras scene from Easy Rider. I half expected to see Eric sitting on a cemetery statue crying about his father.

What it's based on is the recognition that, the way things are now, money is free to cross borders, but people aren't. This gives the interest of the few people who have lots of money even more leverage against the many people who have to sell their labor-power to get it.
