I've used Shine On You Crazy Diamond (at the start of the album) as a mood-mellower, to good effect.  Though Echoes is better.

I may be one of the few people who never watched The West Wing, aside from brief bits while visiting people who had it on. Frankly Sorkin's style has annoyed me for quite some time. Even more than the points hammered upon above, the Sorkin soundtrack is even more cloying and manipulative than the standard Hollywood…

I was too young when this was on to really get much of it, though I did recognize Archie Bunker in my paternal grandfather - and not in a good way.
