These types of puns don't curry any favor with me.

Now I'm hearing Cookie Monster dialogue in Sean Connery's voice. And it is amazing.
His career is just going through some Growing Pains.
I love it when people try to define a religion that they aren't a part of. Like people who say that Mormons aren't "really" Christians, or that secular Muslims don't exist, because if they're secular, they can't be Muslim. Or people who would insist that Hitler couldn't have been Catholic, even if that's how he would…
I wonder what percentage of Americans when asked the question, "What religion was Hitler?" would respond "Atheist." I'll bet way more than would get the right answer. (Catholic, for the record, but that's not a diss on Catholics.)
You must be Antonin Scalia.
Yeah, it's pretty awful. There was a time when religion in America, though it could be fucked up on social issues, was a major force for good on economic ones. That's obviously changed.
I believe he spends a lot of time with the Long Dong Silver Surfer.
No doubt that's a factor, too. I certainly didn't want to imply that the hate is unfair, or that everyone who hates him is motivated by anti-elitism. But I think a fair number are.
Yeah, old men dress the same until they die. I remember my next door neighbor when I was ten (1986) wore a hat, suit, tie, the whole work, every single day. He was probably born at the end of the nineteenth century, which sounds crazy to say now.
Because Polanski rubs people the wrong way. I think at least partially it's an anti-elitist, anti-intellectual, anti-European thing. (Again, not to defend the guy. He's awful. But the hatred of him is so visceral and I think that's a big part of it.)
Probably. Known rapists? I can't think of any off the top of my head. But someone never accused publicly seems very likely.
Oh, I mostly agree. Especially in a case like Woody Allen, who, though he may be a pretty awful person, has never been even charged with a crime.
I'll watch Polanski's movies, but that doesn't mean I don't think he should be in prison.
I'm fine with that. If the article is about a Roman Polanski movie, I'm happy to go online and comment about said movie. But this article is about Roman Polanski seeking assurances that he can avoid being extradition if he goes to Poland, so I think it's perfectly fair to discuss the crime for which he could be…
You want to see tricornes, go to a tea party rally.
That's even dumber than rioting over "The Rites of Spring." Not to mention more historically dubious.
I was thinking about this not too long ago while I was watching Barney Miller. Here it is the mid-70's and all the old guys that come into the precinct are still wearing hats (and suits). It might as well have been 1950 as far as how these guys were dressed. Fashion takes a long time to die, at least for men.
Well I guess that makes me a regent then, because I totally rule.
Maybe. I'll have to rewatch that, along with every other episode. Maybe tonight, after my girlfriend goes to bed, I'll sit down for 12 hours of Blackadder.
