This
is a phenomenon you see across media. I think it's safe to say that Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia have become shorthand for shitty stand-up comedy, "According To Jim" and "Two and a Half Men" are shorthand for situation comedies and the ouevre of Michael Bay and McG are shorthand for big-budget action. People tend

McG has a protege?
The end is truly upon us.

Yeah that piece was great. I knew Pearlman was a sleazebag but I had no idea just how wide-ranging his crimes were. Favorite detail: while on the run Pearlman adopted the alter-ego "A. Incognito Johnson". Classy, classy guy. Also is it just me or does he look like an even fatter Karl Rove?

On a related note
Just how kick-ass is Friday Buzzkills? That's totally one of my favorite features on the site. It hurts so good.

Yes, yes! My evil scheme is paying off.

Yes! Yes! More please!

Cool. Thanks for the info.

Yes, yes! You know I derive a sick sexual thrill from people critiquing my grammar and typographical errors online, don't you? Consequently your post made me very, very happy. And aroused. Who else wants to make me very, very happy by getting out the red pencil of joy and chastising me?

I have no idea
where the Spiderman thing is from. I just saw it online and thought it was awesome.

The real question is
When is Whoopi Goldberg going to apologize to us for her entire career?

His "Bring It On" "monologue" in "Be Cool" very nearly redeemed an otherwise lazy and craptastic movie.

Fun fact:
I don't know how to drive. Seriously. Not even a little bit.

Tell me about it. It seemed somehow heretical to listen to this on my computer at the Onion office. If I had listened to it while wasted at a shitty small town bar it would have blown me away a lot sooner.

Fucking typecasting
The Rock was awesome in "Southland Tales" and "Be Cool". Homeboy has the makings of a kick-ass character actor.

Confession!
It was I who stoleneth Guns' N Roses butter churn.

Incidentally
at the showing I attended this afternoon (River East 21 Stand up!) there were six people there, three of whom walked out at some point. Yes, Signal mania is clearly sweeping the nation.

Also, this is clearly a case where both parties are wrong: Maxim for being sketchy and unethical and The Black Crowes for being the Black Crowes.

I like that "Hard to Handle" song. I wonder what somebody like, I dunno, Otis Redding would have done with it. I guess we'll never know.

Sometimes I look in the mirror and see Jason Heller staring back at me. It's disconcerting in a Philip K. Dick kinda way.

SCTV V. SNL
One advantage SCTV has over SNL is that it made a real effort to integrate its musical guests into the show in a way SNL seldom does, with the very notable exception of this episode, which went out of its way to make Zappa much more than just a guy grinding his way through his latest single.
