Hey Joe 911, I just wanted to thank you for trying to get people to visit my IMDB message board. It's a very sweet, if mildly puzzling gesture.

It should be noted
That the above photo is a publicity shot of Stanger that doesn't look anything remotely like her, in part because her mouth is usual locked in a snarl of pure hate.

Yeah, the crossover between the "Best of the Early Years" and the 90-minute episodes bugged me as well. For the record I prefer the 30 minute episodes to the 90-minute ones. 90 minutes is just a huge amount of space to fill every week, no matter how talented your cast is (and casts don't get much more talented than

I try to make a point of singling out worthwhile aspects to even the most misbegotten projects. So I should point out that Larry Miller is actually pretty funny here. There's a bit where he accuses Simpson of having teeth so freakishly white and perfect that they're less teeth than an "artist's rendering of teeth"

and I strongly suspected that they were intentionally trying to fuck with me a little bit, albeit in an endearing, entertaining kind of way. I think they have an innate aversion to giving straight answers but I found this interview very amusing and not just because of Showalter's Robert Evans-like propensity for

I know this entry is very long
and also very late. Sorry bout that.

is indeed boffo though sources tell me he totally stole the lead role in this show from Brad Pitt. Bastard. Boffo, boffo bastard.

I actually met Tim Kazurinsky once after a show during the big Chicago sketch festival and he said nice things to me about my poorly-rated, mildly disreputable movie-review panel show, so I have to give him props for that. I'm not hating on the K-man, it just sure seems like he and Henry have awfully similar personas

the print version of this story has a final tally of all Failures, Fiascos, Secret Successes and Semi-Secret Fiascopieces for those who are curious.

I would have grabbed the first to announce that "Seduced by The Laughter: The Nathan Rabin Story" will be the name of the Lifetime movie based on My Year Of Flops (I can't decide whether Meredith Baxter Birney or Valerie Bertinelli should play me) but there were some technical glitches in getting this baby posted.

Without you guys
My myriad shortcomings as a writer would be even more glaringly apparent.

More thanks
Thanks for all the kind words, guys. I'd also like to thank my regular copy editor Scott and guest-copy-editors Keith and Tasha. You guys are the best.

Sorry bout the length
of this post. Also, for those who've inquired, I'd love to do a MYOF book and it's definitely a possibility. That's about all I can really say about it at this point. Thanks for asking and thanks again everyone who's made this project such a delight.

20 Dates
was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It chills the blood to think there's another film out there like it I may have to review. I am excited though 'bout the Levinson, both due to my long-standing fondness for him ("Tin Men" excuses an awful lot of crap) and my weakness for glib show-biz satires.

Other host debacles
Apparently Milton Berle and Charles Grodin were both notoriously indifferent, blatantly cue-card reading, let's never invite-them-back flameouts as hosts as well. So I look forward to finally getting to see their episodes somewhere down the road. And I am so very morbidly curious about the 80-82

his appearance here made me nostalgic for that halcyon time in the 90s when every independent film was legally required to feature either Le Gros or Kevin Corrigan.

I did. Thanks for the catch.

my next entry will be long as fuck and contain one or two revelations. Also, it will be a giant disappointment. You might want to start getting disappointed sometime over the weekend to really prepare yourself for the giant letdown to come.

Christopher Doyle's
cinematography here is quite impressive. The hyper-vivid colors seem almost to be sweating so he must have been really fucking hammered when he shot this.

Facts that are no longer considered fun
Mary Lambert was the original director and Terence Stamp dropped out of the role of Thomas' disapproving dad.
