Of course, having said that, Claudette was a much more likeable character than either Corinne or Skylar, despite being a similar sort of obstacle towards the protagonist, and that may very well be because she got to be the main character in her own plot threads. So, maybe there was a missed opportunity there.

The comparisons to The Sopranos and especially The Wire frustrated me. The Wire was a vastly complex show with an ensemble cast and many interconnected plot threads, none of which would really dominate. I loved the Wire for this, but I don't think it's an essential feature of a good show and trying to portray Breaking

Skylar's role in this becomes a bit like the annoyingly perfect wife in every mediocre sitcom - sure, everything she says is valid and sensible, but people end up disliking her anyway because the protagonist is fun to watch and she isn't.
