When you gamble (with a mighty $5) sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.  Picked up a 360 fighting game I'd never heard of for $7 because the art was interesting and the tiny screenshots made it look like 2D fighting game.  It turned out to be 3D model characters and the gameplay sucked, so it doesn't always work out.

On a whim I got a copy of FFXIV off ebay for $5 a few months ago as a lark to see what had been done in the game since I had played in the beta.  I was surprised that they have made huge leaps in the game and it is actually playable now, and on occasion actually fun.  I look forward to the relaunch as FFXIV 2.0 either…

I don't think he was showing off that he could get information, but the manner in which is presented.  Of course, showing off that you can get a jr. officer to create a Power Point presentation isn't really any better.
