I know it was an American remake and reliant on jump scares and all that jazz, but I thought The Grudge was pretty effective, especially the scene with the woman in bed.

Haywire was a well done action movie and I liked all the actors, but I couldn't have given two shits about anything that happened. It felt like an exercise.
Love Actually is interesting in that it has just as many thin romcom plots as these movies and yet, in my opinion, it works. Maybe it was the tits.

I seem to remember thinking the Jennifer Garner subplot in V-Day wasn't entirely awful, but the rest of it is a wash. I refused to see New Years Eve.

I have a Hedwig tattoo, so I fully concur with statement. I've never shown it to a person who didn't like it.

Crying at that scene is a Pavlovian reflex for me now. As soon as Kevin wanders away from his family toward the window, the tears start coming.

I'll defend the MIB3 choice, but only because I've seen about 15 2012 releases and I'm a sucker for those "many small factors" types of scenes. In a movie that was mostly forgettable summer fluff, both the scene and that character are clear in my mind 7 months later.

I think the extended/theatrical ending is also the perfect "happy ending" for a movie like BS. Yes, the characters are still deeply fucked up and it would have been a copout if they had suddenly grown hearts of gold. But it also gives us just enough change and happiness to show that they're at least a little better…

2007: when even a masterpiece like Jesse James was only AMONG the best films released that year.

Sounds about right. It's the kind of movie that remembers better than it plays.

Possibly the greatest movie ever made.
