acknowledging debt
I've seen this phrase before and I don't understand it — how do you determine what is an "unacknowledged debt" and what is properly acknowledged in an artistic work? What would tip you off that it's acknowledged?

christmas vacation… yes, really

I agree; I'd really like to see why some artists aren't making the cut. Part of the project, after all, is not just to rediscover your love for some bands, but to reevaluate and finally discard other bands to leave more room for the ones you love, right?
