It was a quiet week in Woodside, California, where the women are all gym toned, the men are all billionaires, and the children all sell dope at the local high school.

Of course they were totally different shows, but Breaking Bad succeeded where Weeds failed because it was willing to deal with the consequences of Walt's schemes, where Weeds was willing to reboot and ignore most of the consequences of Nancy's actions. Season 4 was when I got off the bus, because it was stunning to…
That's just a half assed version of sewing our corpses into a mandala. Pass.
No, let's do forget that.
I did the Iggy!
Not if you set it on fire.
Funny, he doesn't look Druish.
Onward towards whatever!
I just keep a copy around to let people know that I have no taste.
This is one of the major problems I'm seeing with the show so far. There are moments that seem like they should be funny or weird-funny, but they never quite land in the same way that the first season did. A lot of Vince Vaughn's lines seem like they should be funny, but he's so focused on being the heavy that they…
Please, no terrible saxophone solos.
This sense that, because NPR is quieter and tends to be at least slightly more rational than the rest of the mainstream media (though many of the talking heads on their news programs also work for cable news channels) doesn't mean that they don't have their own problems. I'd argue that tabloid sensationalism like…

So you're here to make people feel bad?
Nikki Haley's (governor of South Carolina) response about the Confederate Flag was unsurprisingly tone deaf. Apparently she thinks that it's OK to fly the flag because no CEOs have complained to her.
I'm stirrin', I'm stirrin'!
God, if you had problems with House of Leaves, stay away from anything else that Mark Danielewski has written. I just made the pointless attempt to read the first volume of his new book, The Familiar, was bored out of my mind and gave up after about 100 pages. At least House of Leaves had the bones of a horror story…
That's exactly the issue. He's known for refusing to allow his books to be cut in any way (and has so far been unable to get some of his more recent work published because of it), so they are often really bloated. There are often flashes of brilliance, but they are buried beneath a lot of junk.
Idle's spent a lot more time exploiting Monty Python's work since they split up. Other than the Rutles, he hasn't really done all that much that's terribly interesting since the end of Python. Cleese gets a bit more of a pass for Fawlty Towers and A Fish Called Wanda. So Idle's an easier target. Not that I blame…
Season 2 of Terriers *cries*
