He admires Japanese art, recommends the works of Ayn Rand, and writes poetic epitaphs for Mrs. Blankenship.
Pun thread! I'll think of puns sandal think of another one!
Agreed, and I thought The Station Agent and The Visitor were both really lovely. I hope the synopsis is full of shit.
in patented Bryan Cranston tighty whities.
Even the stuff that he played with Dolphy is pretty straightforward compared to the stuff he played with Pharoah Sanders, like, say, Meditations.
Get yourself Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus, which is one of my favorite records of all time. Not just because of the music (which is great, and includes a version of his song about racist governor Orville Faubus, inclduing the lyrics that Columbia Records was to afraid to allow on Mingus Ah Um), but it also…

Compared to Charlie Sheen, a 13-year old smoking a joint in the school parking lot is an education-promotion saint.

A little ridiculous? That movie is wall to wall ridiculous. Still great fun, though.
The ending of A Hell of a Woman is completely nuts. But my personal favorite of his is Pop. 1280, mainly because of the voice of the main character. It's like a comic version of The Killer Inside Me, which is also one of his great ones.
There's a really fascinating book about cons by David Maurer called The Big Con that makes this point. "It is not intelligence, but integrity, that determines whether a man is a good mark." Being fleeced means that your greed overwhelms your good sense.
They've shaken that off, and now they're known as the network who keeps hiring Seth MacFarlane to run shows. So, totally desperate!
