I think they did a pretty good job in the first season portraying him as an un-thinking, rashly-acting, oddly-still-entitled prick of a kid. So his dumb-ass, rash decisions here don't strain credulity for me.

I especially enjoy the part where he calls it a fantasy series and then immediately decries it for having "no basis in reality." 
I get it, though. I hate when my fiction isn't non-fiction.

This, to me, is one of the reasons Community is so great. You can have a best episode, and a funniest episode, and they don't have to be the same episode, unlike most sitcoms. You can also have different favorite character-arc and story-arc episodes, given the scope and ambition of the show.
