I'm not sure how Packer would know that Oscar's gay. But they didn't exactly push him to the limits. Fat and dumb jokes? If anything, dumb and fat people are the safest, easiest target to pick at with no fear of repercussion (maybe Catholics too).

If they don't want to use real addresses, they should just end them all with numbers over 50 or 60 that rarely occur. West Harlem is more distracting than something like 1684 N. Harlem.
I wonder how the ratings are. It seems like Lie To Me and Human Target have been given multiple chances, but clearly the plug was pulled just about instantly on Lone Star despite positive reviews, and they didn't do The Good Guys too many favors.
I remember being kind of into this show the first two years it was on the air. Yee Yee makes a good point that this show helped ABC, but I think that was largely due to the fact that viewers were hungry for shows with story arcs, and that was very uncommon at that time. Procedurals had so come to dominate, that a…
Hmm, maybe I will take another look at the massive block of Berlin Alexanderplatz VHS tapes at the library.
Pierce has a lot of disposable income. While he has a lot of wealth, he isn't usually depicted as having an extravagant lifestyle. We saw in the Christmas episode that he has a fair amount of sympathy for Abed, so it's not crazy for him to accommodate Abed's filming here. If you want to get really analytical,…
Er, after high school he may have worked a year or two. Forgive the error.
I think Abed is 21 or 22. I know he didn't make an issue about going to the bar, so he's most likely older than Troy and Annie. It's pretty plausible he took a year or two off after college to save up for college. But I doubt he's much older than Troy. Age is a major determinate for friendships at that age.
Speaking to the nuance in this performance, I found it really touching and believable that LeVar Burton was a real role model to Troy, and he just couldn't deal with it. Maybe the particulars of it were too much, but I bought the idea. I don't want to get overwhelmingly racial, but low self-esteem is a problem in…
I buy Pierce as sadistic genius. There's no way Britta doesn't cash that check for herself if there's not a camera on her the entire time. Perhaps she in some way reminds him of a love interest from decades ago?
Conspiracy Theories was ridiculously entertaining.
The V-Day dance that happened last week, and the general behavior of everyone suggests that could not have been later than a Saturday, and it could have easily been a Friday. It would have taken until Monday for people to get too concerned about Pierce.
I want an explanation.
I know this show is pretty beloved here. I like it. I watch it.
I laughed a fair amount, but I feel like they squandered some promise. This could have been really funny. Not including Holly in some form in the film was a real misstep, especially considering Helene got in there, and that happened after Holly. They definitely could have created conflict by having Michael make a…
Failure to have a horribly racist Samuel L Chang was a major disappointment. Obviously the part was meant for Dwight, but I feel like a lot of comic potential was lost there.
But Chang's behavior was rooted in abusing his own authority. Now that he doesn't have that power anymore it totally changes the dynamic.
Can anyone repost that dialogue?
Speaking of lemons, Britta's sourface killed me.
The Beast Wars wikipedia page is fairly comprehensive. The series is available on Netflix as well. I worry that only the animation would look considerably less impressive than it did at the time, but I'm hopeful that the writing and plotting are still as strong as I remember. Does seem like it sort of went off the…
Kids TV discussion for non-spoiled kids (aka, kids without cable).
I really dug Pokemon for a year or two. Beast Wars was also a neat show with a good mythology and ongoing narrative. I guess these were much more for ages 9-13 than any younger. Before that I was a casual viewer of X-men and Spiderman, (I was never…
