That is SUCH a fantastic movie.  It was one of my dad's all-time faves, and I think he had much the same reaction to it you did.  I'm kind of surprised he didn't ever get an Addison DeWitt hat and cigarette holder just to carry around empty all the time.

ISFJ here!  Heavy on the I.

Now that you mention it, I do know a few people who are just really, really into this stuff.  And they're some of the smartest people I know.  I guess they just really like being able to quantify their self-examination?

Ooooh, sesame seeds.  I also do the "yeah, the grill's lit, so we're going to have to have zucchini" thing, with the olive oil and salt and pepper, but had never considered sesame seeds.  That sounds brilliant!

@avclub-3be42d8a3412057f79af152555e39bd4:disqus Hugs & Hisses and I will be in Dallas in October!  Good thing Texas is such a small state…

I'm near Philly!  And I'm not a guy!  And I'm totally the life of any party!  I mean, who wouldn't want to meet me??  ::crickets::

For a while I was getting voicemails in Spanish, and then voicemails from prospective employers telling whoever they were trying to reach that there were job openings for him/her.  I never, ever, ever use my phone, so I finally just recorded an outgoing message saying, "If you've reached this number, you've got it

I'm so, so sorry about the job.  :(

I'm impressed you can get as far as succotash.  During corn season I just cook the ears (boil or grill), zip the kernels off, toss with butter and sea salt, and strap on a nosebag of the stuff.  God, I love corn.

Needing to use up a shitload of zucchinis, I made this zucchini soup with creme fraiche and cilantro recipe from this month's "Food & Wine".  I used some homemade yogurt instead of creme fraiche, but it was still phenomenally good.  Anyone else swimming in zucchinis, I highly recommend this!

What I would give for that Afghan Whigs "Jesus Christ Superstar"…

Sounds like a party!  Or maybe it sounds like one of those vacations from which you need a vacation?  One or the other.

Z.  Because it's really fun to write.  Also, easy to find in the alphabet.  (I have issues with where R and P are in relation to one another.  Consequently that part of the alphabet stresses me out a little.)

Holy crap — this might be the best one yet.

Fantomas - "Untitled"  Way to go, iPod.  Kick off my shuffle with a four-second silent filler track.  Awesome.
Japancakes - "Disconnect the Cables"  I've said it before and I'll say it again — I can't stay mad at you, iPod.
Mike Patton - "Chocolate Theme"
Pelican - "The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw"

You're a genius, @avclub-d542a3419c3ad57206a96bcc86155ebc:disqus !

This was such a mesmerizing movie to me as a kid, and I read all the Walter Farley books, over and over, along with the Marguerite Henry books.  Man, all those classic books for horse-loving pre-teens… I wanted so desperately to be a horsey cool girl, but didn't actually like riding all that much.  Also, real-life

Congratulations!

Thanks for the tips!  I'm kind of looking for both things I can wear now and things some unimaginably thinner future me will wear.  Very strangely, I'm suddenly feeling cute (despite still being a plus-size slob), but I'm also kind of looking for aspirational shopping, shit to stare at and dream about someday being

I thought that lands of midnight sun were good for all kinds of summer veggies — like, Alaska's some kind of crazy breeding ground for world-record enormous pumpkins and whatnot.  I guess that doesn't apply to oxheart tomatoes?  What a bummer.  But this homestretch before ripeness is always so excruciating, isn't it?
