That's awesome that you're getting a chance to cheat on your hairdresser with a more fashionable one.  My salon has sort of steady turnover, so I keep getting new hairdressers just because they're replacing my old ones.  I don't like the one I've been stuck with for the last year, but there's really no way I can see

My inclination is to always say no to bangs, but your list of pros is very compelling.

Okay, that's it!  I'm going to write a sternly-worded letter!

I'll second the vote for Del Maguey.  I'm a mezcal newbie, though, and that's kind of all I've tried.

That sounds insanely delicious.

I'm having leftover chili (this batch has Yellow Indian Woman beans, which are surprisingly sweet.  Between those and the buckets of frozen corn I added to the pot, it's got a nice bit of sweetness to play off the spicy), but I have to wait until after 1:30 so there won't be a line for the microwave in the break

We do Mother's Day up in my household (which consists of me and my sister — old-skool spinsters — and our widowed mother.  We're all, like, BFFs and shit, so it's not a very mother/adult child dynamic or anything).  My mom's birthday is very close to Christmas, so we give her full-bore birthday-present treatment at

Oof, my hair is in a dire situation, length-wise.  There's just way too much of it.  I like to wash it at night and sleep on it wet (because I'm lazy and have never figured out how to use a hairdryer), and it's now too long to dry overnight.  Fortunately it's haircut day tomorrow.  (I KNOW!  EXCITING!!)

Oh my goodness, that Campari Sanguinea sounds outrageously good, and like the perfect weeknight cocktail.

So what time should I be over?

The first one I have memories of seeing in the theater was "ET", but I was six by then, so I'm sure I'd been to something earlier.  But sick ET in that stream bed scared the ever-lovin' crap out of me, as did the pajamas Elliott wore.  They seemed texturally like the human-clothing equivalent of ET being all gross and

Fist bump for Charlotte's Web.

@avclub-7dc8b441cf4e6fe9bc806679c4579e68:disqus Yep, he's the one.  ::Long, suffering sigh::  I suspect I hated him for that hit even more than Leafs fans did.  What a massive, douchey waste of a roster spot, and more than that, a smear on the good name of Cam Jansen!

Thank you, @avclub-c156902f5b20b572848be18c11634dfb:disqus.  I couldn't agree more that it's just honestly not that big a deal to delay or edit a television program in response to a national tragedy.  Yes, the point about real-life violence being the true outrage instead of fictitious violence is a great one, and

CLICK!

Awww, so nice to see Charlotte's Web getting a little love on this list.  I read that book dozens of times as a kid.  About 10 or 12 years ago my sister, mother and I went on a road trip from Phoenix to LA, and decided to listen to the audiobook of Charlotte's Web, read by E.B. White.  So we were going along through

My mother steered me to Agatha Christie when I was a kid, and man, I have such fond memories of devouring those books.  And then I grew up to basically read only murder mysteries.

Yeah, Monte Cristo was one of my all-time favorite reading experiences (my sister and I read it aloud to each other, switching off each chapter), but that was when I was 25.  Fourth-grade me would have wandered off a bit in that whole "Dumas really was getting paid by the word, wasn't he?" Luigi Vampa segment.

The BFG was my favorite, too.

Well, in that case, I can't WAIT for this movie to come out!
