Cheers to that, Dikachu!

I only really discovered how fantastic cabbage is this past fall.  You're so right that it is unfairly maligned — now I'm kicking myself for all the years of cabbage I passed up just because of its bad rep.

Hey, can we have a Chicago hotel and restaurant recommendation thread?  I'm going there in March and have no idea where to stay.  Anyone here have any suggestions for something that might be relatively swanky?  And good places to eat?  My only previous experience with Chicagoland was staying with my grandparents and

He's wearing a pretty doofy facial expression too.  I hope that's not the fault of the blazer.

As usual you're eating really well, Lurky!  I'm hoping some of that rubs off for me, because tomorrow I'm trying the soubise recipe you posted last week.

My sister missed Sixth Sense when it was in theaters, so I watched it on video with her later.  So Bruce Willis gets shot, and she cracks, "I bet he dies!"  Looooooong, awkward silence from me.  And yet, she still didn't figure it out.  She is not one of those people who's constantly trying to prove they're one step

I agree — it was a pretty nifty movie if you ditched the ending.  Of course, I only watched it because I'm a Mike Patton completionist, so I might not be a great judge.

@avclub-62812d8eb06386505986efff8b5e43ac:disqus Slate.com did a piece a few months ago arguing that Lance's Tour de France titles should just be vacated, because all of the second- and third-place finishers those years have all also been banned for PEDs.  I might be making this up, but I think there were years in

Hmm… that's a very tempting offer you're making…

Okay, you just made me laugh out loud at work thinking of that scene.  That's a FANTASTIC musical number.

On the favorite musical numbers from musicals thread last week I concurred with someone that "Putting on the Ritz" was lapping the field for best musical number in a non-musical, but then my sister reminded me of "I'm So Tired".  I had to concede her point.

This has puzzled me for years.  I'm a huge sports fan and a huge cynic, so I've always just assumed that everyone's trying to get away with as much as they can in every sport.  But with cycling — and Lance in particular — the PED thing has always been obvious and, to a certain extent, exposed enough that you didn't

Ah, yes.  That makes a lot of sense.

That's such a bummer!  And also weird — I always put celery leaves in my stock.  In fact, I got huge heads of celery from the farmers market this fall and packed up all the leaves in the freezer, just for making stock all winter.  I… might be doing it wrong?

@avclub-752c325f9cae94bbbd34b6b4b697fe2f:disqus I'm the only Devils fan you'll ever meet.  Heh.  And Sharks?  I can live with that.  At least you're in the other conference…

Good luck with the interview!  And those glasses are foxy.  A very nice choice.

@avclub-577bf73a564d1fd9878f3c70f931a066:disqus I can assure you that my goggles definitely work wonders.  I'm massively sensitive to onions (while also being a fellow mouth-breather — I must be doing all of this wrong…), but the goggles make me utterly impervious.  No pile of onions is too large for me to chop!

I'm so sorry, both for losing your house and for the whole separation situation.

@avclub-577bf73a564d1fd9878f3c70f931a066:disqus I've heard that if you chop enough onions it'll just stop bothering you, so maybe you've built up an immunity?  (I kept hoping that would happen to me, but then the goggles came along.  Sweet, sweet goggles…)
