Nice job!  I got a meat grinder attachment for my stand mixer, because grinding my own meat seems sort of fun and badass.  I don't eat beef, though, so there don't seem to be quite as many opportunities for grinding pork as there would be if I was a beef person.  (This whole comment seems like a really clumsy

Aww, it's nice to see that my scarf-buying led to a "fabulous" gift.  (I only bought it for you because I wanted to wear it myself.)

I wear scarves every day, and like @ColdGottoBe:disqus and @Scrawler2:disqus are saying, just decide it's working and stay strong.  No one's going to confront you about it even if it does look stupid, so what have you got to lose?  Actually, most people are intimidated enough by scarves that all you'll get is respect,

I'm deeply ashamed of my legs, so I don't ever even consider wearing shorts.  For anything.  If an activity requires shorts, it's an activity I'm not participating in.  (Thank goodness there are fewer and fewer activities that require shorts the further you get from middle school.)

I've been very low-energy about cooking, too.  But while your substitutes for actual meals sound healthy, I've just been getting lots of pizza.

My big culinary adventure this week was a complete fail.  I tried the S'mores Pudding from the "Baked: Elements" cookbook I got for Christmas.  It sucked.  BOOO!  The pudding was too thick and chocolatey, the graham cracker crumbles were too cinnamony, and the marshmallow topping just literally didn't work at all.  I

Well, that's its own special kind of fun, isn't it?  (And hey — by staying home and needlepointing, I was also recapturing my early 20s!  Life is a flat, unwinding road for me…)

I watched a few episodes of Law & Order on DVD and worked on my needlepoint.  Yep.  ::cracks knuckles::  I'm pretty cool.

I used to have those Ella & Louie CDs in my car, and for one summer they were literally all I ever listened to.  The Porgy & Bess is so, so, so wonderful, and I strongly suspect that all the other drivers on the road did not appreciate my overdubs of "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered".  But inside my head I sounded

There is no competition for this scene.  None.  It's "Puttin' on the Ritz" and then the rest of the field.

You're so right.  I don't watch a ton of movies, but I'd been trying to keep tabs at least a bit on what the kids were watching these days.  The whole Apatow oeuvre leaves me cold, and it seems like popular comedies these days are shaggy, overlong, and reliant on big centerpiece scatological antic scenes.  (Which is

No 5-year-old girl that I would have wanted to know, that's for sure.  He was so dreamy!

And every last inch of me's covered with hair!

I'll toss in another vote of confidence for Liza.  Cabaret is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I think she's just wonderful in it.

You're so right.  My favorite musical sequence in a musical is just the entirety of West Side Story

Fantastic call on "Tomorrow Belongs to Me".  That's one of those movies that I just have to stop and watch whenever I stumble across it on TV, and that scene gives me chills every time.

@avclub-8c3bce39ca977e0f872b6d9fb3be8cfb:disqus There is literally not a single scene of LA Confidential that I don't love.  So I'll spare you the laundry list of all the ones with Crowe that stand out for me — it'd be easier for all of us to just watch the movie again.

For real!  As someone who is fully embracing the non-refundable shipment of crotchety, I think we have spent entirely not enough time wallowing in a '90s revival.  Getting nostalgic for years that begin in 2 is cutting my hard-earned self-indulgence many, many years too short.  More '90s, dammit!  MORE!!

My favorite thing about James Cromwell is that I always think of him as Dudley Smith, but call him "Farmer Hoggett".  What a different Babe that would be…

@avclub-29501df08e5d9ae59e432e4f188d3735:disqus Thank you for sharing your pics!  The one of Henry VIII's armor is going to have me giggling all day.
