Wow — that sounds completely fantastic. I'm terrible about trying meatless dishes, but this seems well worth the effort.

I'm so glad to see a Christmas cookie thread today because I really wanted to share my great-grandmother's spice cookie recipe. We made up a batch yesterday and, as I do every year, I was surprised at how good they are. They're a totally homely, unassuming cookie, but as soon as you eat one you find yourself going…

OMG — a third egg??? You, sir, are a genius! I love cakey cookies, and "not being cakey enough" has been my only complaint about Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies for all these years. You're my hero!

Nice to see "Transverse" getting some love! Because I wasn't bold enough to go beyond a top ten, that didn't make my list, and now I'm kicking myself for being bound by nonexistent rules.

2. The Melvins - "The…

Yours is the list I'm most agreeing with so far — I love your inclusion of How To Destroy Angels and the Bonnie Prince Billy, as well as "Blues Funeral" and the Lawless soundtrack.

Having fallen in love with Book of Knots' "Garden of Fainting Stars" last year, this year I finally caught up with their eponymous album and with "Traineater". Also, even though I've had it in my rotation for years, this year I enormously rediscovered Twilight Singers' "Powder Burns".

This is the sports lockout that makes the least sense. While all sports lockouts/strikes are annoying and horrible and stupid to the fans, this one really seems to be achieving heroic levels of idiocy. And the fact that the league is still getting all its US broadcast money while not playing any games just fits…
