@Lurky, I hear you, but IMO the cracks in the Joel/Julia marriage have been building since the first season. And when Victor was introduced into the mix, Joel's frustration at being constantly railroaded by Julia really came to the fore. Not that Julia was portrayed as a bitch, just someone who was unequivocally the

Oh my God, YES. He has been through so much already, from his horrible upbringing to being pushed back a grade this year at school. And he was just starting to call J & J "mom" and "dad!" That whole scene just broke my heart.

@debenham, beautifully worded post. It's the same in NYC; charter schools have been founded in poor neighborhoods here for quite some time. With Kristina's higher profile due to her mayoral run, it's not at all improbable that she could get some wealthy donors to fund one for teens on the autism/Asperger's spectrum.

But clone hugs, y'all! CLONE HUGS! *tears up all over again*

@reckoner, I LOVED Tara! So badass, smart, sexy and interesting. Would have loved for her to have become a recurring character, ganking demons and imparting her wisdom and experience to the boys. Why did they kill off such a promising female character?

Hey, I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. IMO, writers of shows like this tend to be more interested in fleshing out characters who have mindsets like their own (i.e., creative professionals, artists and their assistants, people working for trendy gastropubs, etc.) and those outside the loop are

I get your point, but I still disagree. IMO Pat and his core friends — an artist's assistant (not a carpenter) and a wine waiter at an upscale restaurant — live a gay hipster-y life in SF. Pat dated the doctor to see if going outside his scene would work for him but the oncologist was (again, IMO) stereotypically

@Kumagoro, Security Guy only killed his weaker friend because he was going to confess — which would be actual proof against him, not the "she said/they said" nature of the actual crime.

Did you ever see the "Clipsville" episode when they showed the PP girls as teenagers? Gave a good idea of what they'd look like grown up. Not gonna lie — I got sucked into the PP marathon yesterday and remembered why I loved this show so much (and how creepy "Him" always was). Still skeptical about the CGI version,

Totally respect your opinion, but I felt the show was rife with cliches. Leaving aside the entire cast who were all slim and conventionally attractive (which, fine, it's TV), scenes like the date with the oncologist just seemed so contrived. He's not in a "creative" occupation like Pat so of course he's stuffy and

I don't really think Nick and Hank were "stupid" (or "dumber," as Kevin put it) not to immediately think this crime was Wesen-related. In the first place, we were told that the Portland victims were "stabbed," and only later did the analysis come in about the scorpion venom. Plenty of humans stab other humans, and

Re: Kevin's review. to say "There’s a lot in the episode about the autonomy of the contractors and
the inability of military leadership to punish crimes on a base, but
very little about how unspeakably awful the crime was" seems a little misleading, given that the ENTIRE PLOT hinges on a woman who has been so damaged

Yep, 6% of Portland is black, and 9% are Latino. And apparently 50% are Wesen…

@Jay S, it's a really good question, and I've wondered the same thing. For years, NBC has had critically acclaimed comedies like 30 Rock, The Office, Parks & Rec and Community that had tons of buzz and pitiful ratings.

@Jay S. answers Quirky's ratings question further upthread. For me, I watch NBC's Parenthood, The Blacklist, Chicago Fire, SVU, Grimm and Dracula, plus Parks & Rec and Community. And Leno has been having a really strong year - #1 in all categories. If you go on Twitter, as I do, most of those shows have really vocal

@Skeletons, Best. Read. Ever! I wish I could think up brilliant retorts like that when people are being bitchy to me. Sigh.

Jagre, I wish I could upvote you 1,000 times. Amazing, perceptive post and as someone who has watched this show since episode one I couldn't agree more with your history of the J/J marriage.

I think you mean Hell's Kitchen.

LOL…I once took some old suits to a consignment shop in my (very gay) neighborhood and the clerk looked me up and down and sneered "well, you obviously can't fit into these anymore." His co-worker found that very amusing…

LOL…well, I'm fatter than all of them so would probably be relegated to Bitter Lonely Friend of the main twinks on this show…( :
