I'd just say that Marvel's creative stagnation started in the mid-00s, not the mid-90s. There was definitely a mid-90s nadir, but they bounced back with the "Heroes Return" titles. Busiek's Iron Man and Avengers and Waid's Captain America were all great.

Totally agree about the rapey part of "Extraloveable", I try to put it in early-80s context both of a culture even more blind to rape and of Prince's general line-crossing sexual forwardness (i.e. "Sister"). I also feel like the 'Jaime Starr' portion of "Do Yourself a Favor" is kind of a minus, but both those songs
