This has kind of been the last bastion for civilized community on the internet for me. Well, I'm sure there's another one out there. Or if there isn't, maybe there will be at one point. Honestly I don't know why AVClub was a sanctuary for nice people, but somehow it just was.

and Kel will keep trying to get tickets, but will keep being gently rebuffed

whoa…I remember seeing an ad for that show, but apparently it aired and was cancelled without me noticing

As a viewer, the Darla stuff just confirmed my assumptions. In Buffy S3 when Faith's plan was to sleep with Angel to desoul him, my friends and I watching agreed that made no sense. And then obviously with Darla he was miserable…

I'm willing to compromise here! She can wear a leather catsuit on The Grinder

Did you watch Xena though? For all the subtext, she was as close to openly gay as you could get without going over

you can't take this guy from me

Look, I don't perform anything for anyone. I consider myself a feminist, and I don't know — maybe I'm not feminist enough by your standards, somehow. So maybe my opinion is worthless, but I see no way that cheating on his spouse disqualifies a man from feminism.

That show was really, really good. Not all the way through, but for a while it was the best thing on TV. There are other good things you haven't seen that you should see, but if you like TV, you should probably see Buffy.

I think I'll miss you most of all, Cookie_Monster

Yeah, that was definitely the metaphor for the moment when Buffy wakes up to find him gone, and when the next time she sees him he's a dick. But then Willow makes Angel nice again using magic right before Buffy murders him, and the metaphor kind of breaks down
