I feel like that one's almost a counter-example, because people fondly remember Batman even though it wasn't very good. But people don't remember Batman Returns all that much, and it did huge business, so that's a good example.

I was totally going to mention Paula Abdul! People remember like two of her songs, but she had a TON of hits

counterpoint: the scene where Rufio dies

Oh, hmm. Now that you point it out, that's pretty lame. All this time I kind of thought she was doing a swap with Molly Ringwald, like in Persona or Three Women but less unsettling.

I'm so sorry you saw Hook

He fits right into this theory I've been forming about the very-late-80s to the early-mid-90s or so: nobody really remembers the things that were mega-hits at that time, because those things, in hindsight, were kind of lame. I call it the Gloria Estefan theory. It came up recently when we were talking about the film Gh

Yeah, that one just occurred to me. I always think of GoodFellas before I think of The Godfather.

I think it's more a trope parody than anything specific, like the opera / action scenes in Quantum of Solace or The Fifth Element or The Punisher. I feel like there's a Scorcese movie I'm missing, but that's probably just because the "Layla" scene from GoodFellas has the same soundtrack / imagery mismatch feel.

Well the hard part is getting elected president. After he's inaugurated, all he has to do is press a few buttons. Other people are involved in the process, but they're meant to help, not to hinder. From getting the idea in his head to launching missiles that cannot be unlaunched, is a matter of minutes.

Who knows? Place your bets now!

If all I had to worry about was the fact that the Republicans are about to control every branch of government, I wouldn't be nearly so terrified. Regressive policies can be corrected, and that kind of damage can be undone (aside from the ongoing damage we're doing to the planet, but it's not like we were going to do

Yeah, I think that's exactly what happened here…purely presentational, which means they went to the effort of shoving octopus into a piping hot turkey just for a visual gag.

He's a very sassy, wealthy old queen…I can't imagine him NOT swearing

I know I'm supposed to hate him, but "Great White Buffalo" rocks pretty damn hard

Seems like a weird line to draw…I mean, ultimately this is another human being whose choices you're condemning. Metaphorically speaking, aren't there any regrettable weddings you played in your past?

it…continued?

Ooh, late-80s Elton! Great song, great video

A coward with full, unfettered control of our nuclear arsenal. I can think of nothing more terrifying.

I mean you could say the same for Magneto. In any case, what really bugs me is that characters like Wolverine and the Thing don't make it into Marvel games like Future Fight, because we're in a serious movie-tail-wags-everything-else-dog situation here. C'mon Marvel.

Yeah. I kind of regret not having an SNES instead, just because it seems like everyone in my peer group grew up on SNES-specific games like Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid, and Star Fox. On the other hand, I never would have played Comix Zone, which was fantastic. And I did play Sonic like a million times, even though
