I've read just about everything of his (barring his "children's" books, including Coraline). I started with Neverwhere, and it worked for me.

I'm bracing for disappointment
I heart Neil Gaiman's work very much, but I'm a wee bit less enthusiastic about the adaptations I've seen thus far.
