My thoughts exactly. I even put on New Adventures in response to the article — one of the few REM albums that I go back to. My wife & I even danced to Squirrel Nut Zippers at our wedding in ("Meant to Be" in 2005), but otherwise, 1996 is alot of garbage.

There have been other gritty, distopian world movies that have been PG-13, fun to watch, boundary pushing, based on novels.  Think Lord of the Rings, or even Where the WIld Things Are (PG, no less).  Saying he did the best he could is a crutch — that's the job of the director after all!  This story is not a pleasant…

But, really, the second choice could easily be better than the first.  Some of his creative choices were poor — the game itself felt like a camping trip, there was no sense of danger or urgency throughout, and the use of hand held was confusing, especially when trying to show expansive shots.  And the chemistry…
