To those that have read the book: to what extent is the series faithful to the depictions and characterizations?

The show barely rates and is lucky to still be on air. We should be similarly grateful that it will return soon anyway.

The show was Oz lite, but (unlike most shows), Orange is to be celebrated for its willingness to foreground characters of race and class in a female context. 

You have to admire Sutter. It takes a real man to write a scene when his own character is being anally raped by other prisoners.
