It has everything to become a great TV show (same level as Mad Men, BB, Enlightened), it only needs a little push and an edgier writing.
This first season was a pretty solid: B+

McGee has to trash other shows in order to validate his bad taste in TV. Scandal is a horrible show, stop trying to sell it as good television. This article is one of the many proof why Ryan McGee fails as a "tv critic".

PS: Ryan McGee, I'm not a troll. You don't need to "feed me". It's my honest opinion that you're reviews are not good at all, and by the comments I've read here in the AVClub and Hitfix, I'm not the only one. I do hope you can write something that someone somewhere finds satisfying and thought provoking in these

Given that Ryan McGee gave this a B, it's probably because this is good.
The bad news is: Ryan McGee is reviewing this show.
I'll just ignore these weekly reviews and wait to read the final Todd VanDerWerff review.

Don't understand some of your criticism or why you are so mad with the finale.

*"This is why *I* can't have nice sci-fi things"

Still, wouldn't it be better anyway? Than having this future? I'm mean everything should be better than having the world invaded and destroyed by some guys from the future and Olivia loosing their child and friends.

True. This will probably good, McGee is not the best critic around.

"The Boy Must Live" is something September said. These comparisons with Harry Potter are forced and annoying.

They were travelling in the past and observing so they could find a time in history where the invasion would be most successful. Seems reasonable.
And don't compare Fringe to Lost. Fringe has done a better job by far in teasing and delivering than Lost ever did. Don't forget how Fringe teased Peter was dead at the end
