My issue, and I noticed this with "Going Clear" as well, is that I sometimes find the narrative style distracting. "It was a bright, clear day in 1842" just makes me wonder if it was, and where the footnote is for that. Its just a feature of the genre, I guess. Both books are very interesting, bright clear days

I've been reading "Under the Banner of Heaven" about the early history of the Mormon church. I don't find Krakaur to be the strongest writer, but the subject matter is some weird, wild stuff.

People seem to confuse overrated with not worthwhile. I think the Doors are overrated, but I still enjoy the music.

That's bad!

Saving scantily clad Morena Baccarin is a cause we can all get behind.

Agreed. Tentpoles can be fun but they not the solution to everything. Plus the marketing is exhausting.

I enjoyed this movie. Hearing that it was made "on the cheap" only makes me like it more.

Me too!

Few things make me happier than a funny song. All is forgiven, GJI.

Ha ha, thanks. I figure for Vikings, the ability to (find and) stand on land would be pretty key. Its an underrated skill.

Franceses McDormand.
EDIT: Coulda bothered to read the whole thread…

I just saw "In Bruges" for the first time this weekend. Really enjoyable movie.
EDIT: so I'm excited for this, and thought I would share.

That phrase is shorthand for anything unnecessary in my house.

That drove me nuts, if she wants to pronounce it "anj," there needs to be an "e" on the end.

No hard feelings, I'm just glad to see another person repping Home Movies around here. We really don't talk enough about niche cartoon shows on the AV Club.

Usurper! I used to post under that name 'til Disqus threw a fit and wouldn't let me in, how did it let you register it?

I would like to think I'd be nonplussed about seeing that many sheep in one place. I can imagine quite a few sheep.

Thanks for filling me in, I guess I missed that, and I haven't really read any Onion spin-off sites.

I know he left, but I had to pick it up from context clues like this one, I seem to have missed the announcement and attendant rending of garments.
