I agree that the adulation heaped on this episode don't make no sense once you know what really happened (see what I did there?).  But I have a different objection — I just think that the episode leans too much on the surprises, and once you've seen them, there's less left to enjoy.

Yeah, either the account was hacked or he's just… I don't know, having a nervous breakdown or something.

I love the fact that his reference to January Jones has the opposite of its intended effect.  "Of COURSE she'll be on the show!  People thought that when another character left Don's immediate orbit, she'd be gone, and that didn't happen at all!  Her stories just got fewer and fewer and more peripheral until in the

I was only half paying attention, but am I right in thinking that the chefs were assigned their surprise "themes" after they'd already bought their ingredients?

The thing is, as bad an idea as it might be, doing three Hobbit movies by working with a lot of extra material isn't that inconceivable.  The challenge comes from doing a third when you've already done the "complete" story in the first two, ending with (presumably) Bilbo's return.  (spoiler!)  At that point, the third

I agree in general, but I do think Bane's agenda was crystal clear.  He says it like five times, "I am carrying out R'as Al Ghul's legacy!" or whatever.  He's destroying Gotham.  That was always the plan. The whole bit about giving false hope to the citizens by making them think they stand a chance or that some kind

The other problem I have with this — Wayne's poverty is completely inconsequential.  It never inconveniences him, he never seems upset by it, it never really does anything.  Thematically, I suppose, it fits in with the "revolution," and I guess maybe the filmmakers wanted our sympathies to be clear and to keep Wayne

Yeah, I should have mentioned that to be fair.  But I think in my mind, calling the X-Men movies a trilogy is like saying there are four Indiana Jones movies.  We all know the Indy films are a trilogy and there are only two X-Men movies, plus First Class.  Just like there are only three Star Wars movies.

I had the exact same thought about the Joker.  Obviously, with Ledger gone, it wasn't even an option.  And even if he had been around, the story was already very long, with more than enough characters, storylines, etc.

I remember seeing him do stand-up on TV long after his career had faded, probably in the last ten years.  He told a joke that was really funny, unexpectedly so.  I don't remember the joke.

So nobody's going to point out that he's Darth Vader?  Here?  Of  all places?  At the Onion AV Club, nobody's going to point out that this guy is Darth Vader.  You're all just too classy.
