So nobody's going to point out that he's Darth Vader? Here? Of all places? At the Onion AV Club, nobody's going to point out that this guy is Darth Vader. You're all just too classy.

The fusion machine timer makes SOME sense, if you suspend disbelief. They calculated the time it would take for the instability of the core untethered to the reactor to lead to meltdown.

As much as I love this show, I do think it's not as tightly constructed as it was when it began. The melodrama grew more and more important, and little details started to get glossed over.

Technically, Friends was not conceived as a show without a central character. The writers and creators have been pretty up-front about the fact that the show as originally conceived would place Ross and Rachel at the center, with Monica and Chandler as the mildly responsible ones and Joey and Phoebe as the goofy ones.

I actually wondered if Bruce would fall and die trying to escape the pit. And the rise of Blake as Batman would be the second half of the movie.

I agree that the film was flawed — they've all been flawed, and there are parts of Batman Begins I think are incredibly stupid — but I liked it all the same.

Jesus, it's not even 9am and there are already 7 pages of comments. Well, I'm sure the following has already been said, buried in there somewhere, but here goes…

I wonder if the Zoe change-of-heart would play better if the show had been given a chance to continue. On its own, given the sum total of Zoe that we were ever able to see, there's one possible explanation. She's not in love with Mal, so there's no basis for jealousy; she's not real insecure about Wash so there's no…

My wife and I watched this series with some friends back when it came out on DVD. Recently we were talking about Mad Men and I reminded her that Christina Hendricks was on Firefly. She asked "Who did she play?" and I grinned and said "Saffron! You remember!" After she looked at me quizzically, I said…

Maybe you were getting at this with the phrase "broad archetypes," but I think it's unfair to call Posey's character here a manic pixie dreamgirl, for two reasons. First, because she didn't exhibit much in the way of manic or pixieish behavior — she was just a girl who worked a bookstore and seemed to have a decent…
