I love the change from "fat" to "weird" too! Subtle but important. And yes, Grease Live really made me appreciate how much Olivia Newton-John brought to Sandy that wasn't on the page.

The problem is I think they kind of *were* pausing for laughs. Or at least they were delivering their lines with a slower, theatrical pacing rather than a more naturalistic, cinematic one. I think Grease Live needed to either stick with the more heightened theater style and let the audience respond to the jokes or let

I was rewatching the movie version and I think I agree with your assessment. I LOVE how Olivia Newton-John hints at Sandy's insecurities as "Sexy Sandy," which makes it feel more like an act than a transformation. (Particularly the way she has absolutely no idea what to do with the cigarette.) And the choreography

I don't think there were too many hints other than the ones you mentioned, but your comment reminded me how concerned I was that Sandy's strict parents were going to kick her out of the house for her "You're The One That I Want" transformation. Where will she live?!?!

I think Grease Live! would have benefited from being more ensemble driven like the stage show. Give "Grease Lightning" back to Kenickie and let Jan and Roger sing "Mooning," which goes a long way towards establishing their weirdo characters.

I totally agree. The visual aping bothered me much more than borrowing the film's structure. I've already seen those costumes, show me new ones!

I will definitely agree that Seven Brides For Seven Brothers is a terrible musical with equally troubling politics, but I would stick up for Oklahoma as a better show than Grease. For one thing, its music is just far superior and I think it nails its relationships and comedy better than Grease does.

Agreed, but it's so hard to even find any theater companies doing the original anymore. They aren't usually *quite* as movie-inspired as Grease: Live was, but I feel like the movie has entirely usurped the original.

I liked Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World quite a bit, but the end of the romantic arc almost ruined the whole thing for me. Yuck.

I don't actually know if the study counts singing lines, but the '90s princess movies don't really feature *that* much female singing. Pretty sure Sebastian and Gaston sing as much as Ariel and Belle. Frozen and Tangled definitely feature a lot of female songs, however.

I know what you mean. Objectively this show has a lot of weaknesses, but I find myself getting choked up over it pretty regularly in a way I don't with "better" shows. Earnestness can be really moving.

Dude. I was kind of siding with Bob Ross' discomfort with Martians, but you just solved this dilemma beautifully. Ancient/exctinct Martians totally works.

I laughed really hard at this comment.

I was glad Cat immediately fired Kara because it did feel like the only correct response. But I also kind of bought the way they did the un-firing because Cat does respect Kara more when she stands up to her.

Great call on Chyler Leigh being the MVP of the Grey's musical ep! I forgot how much she impressed me in that.

I definitely see where you're coming from, I just don't know if there's a way to confess your romantic love for a friend in a way that doesn't put unfair pressure on them. Ultimately it's a shitty situation for all involved so maybe it's just best to rip the band-aid off?

Umm, I actually secretly love Scorpion for how overtly dumb it is so I would 100% be down with this idea. Unfortunately, not sure there would be much readership…

He's *obviously* J'onn's secret evil twin, don't know what everyone is so confused by…

I agree with all of this. I think if they didn't have the ice wall shatter but instead it just stood up to the blast and protected everybody I would have bought it. But I guess that wouldn't look as dramatic onscreen.

Yo, I think plenty of 20 and 30-something women can relate to Winn's rejection too! Falling in love with your friends and being rejected by them isn't an exclusively male thing at all.
