Yeah, I was recorded over telephone receivers and from trashcans. Now I'm in Gitmo.

I concur Mr Posting-on-the-AVClub-boards. VGPS is fine, but my favourite by far is actually Arthur. It's such a great mixture of poignant and oddly uplifting, along with consistently stunning songcraft.
As for this album, it sounds a little sad. It seems like the kind of thing I'd be excited about when I was 15 (for…
Supergroups
I have a semi-serious question here: what does it take to get called a 'supergroup' these days? I realise it's a subjective term, but growing up, I always thought that the members' primary bands had to be, well, super, to get called a supergroup (either in sales, or widespread critical acclaim). It seems…
This definitely sounds promising. I was a big fan of In & Out of Control, but also saw how it could be the pinnacle of what they were doing with the scuzzy pop sound. I'm glad to hear they're growing and evolving.
I agree with Alex; I don't see the two-person nature of the Kills as a 'gimmicky aesthetic' but to each his own, I suppose. I like the interaction between the clean, metronomical drum machine and the seedy riffs. I haven't heard the full album yet, but the review and comments read to me that if you like the Kills,…
On a related point, I'm not trying to nitpick here Mr O'Neal, but wouldn't France as a whole have more reason to hate Arnie as an Austrian than as an American? I mean, the Freedom Fries shenanigans were a low blow, but I'm sure there's still some good will left to Americans. But, as Mr Sloppy pointed out, there's no…
Don't worry, I've heard that some refer to Sheen as the Havel of Hollywood. Stupid, stupid people say that.
I only got into Eddie Izzard in his later days, but I think he is an incredibly inventive and informed comedian. It's not always funny, but I appreciate watching whatever he does. Disagree with me, fine, it's just what I think.
Meh, hate if you want (and I understand). However, I sometimes like ridiculous, nonsensical comedies that try too hard and still make me laugh. I am, I know, a pleb! And happy to be one in whatever country I happen to exist in at this particular moment.
Thanks, Mr O'Flanaghan
You know, it's too easy to be snarky on these sites, and I am as guilty of it as anybody else. However, snark aside, I just want to thank Sean for this obituary. I did not really know this man's work, but this write-up made me want to explore him further. I mean this sincerely: I appreciate the…
I feel your pain Mr Astro. I seemed to have a penchant as a child for loving all the underdog, failure teams who were moved. I loved the Nordiques, the Jets (and to a lesser extent the Whalers), and the Expos in baseball. At least my Canucks stayed put…
It's really pretty hypocritical of Romney, considering all the shows where he's appeared topless.
Your dad too, Mr Guise? And I thought I was the only one out there.
I believe it's JARETH Cutestory. What are you, Welsh?
Thanks for this article Noel; it was great fun. I was more into hockey cards (given my birth country) and still remember the day I found an autographed Pavel Bure CCCP card in a pack, as he was my favourite player, then on my favourite team (the Canucks).
The dog should have just built a ramp. If he's so cute, how come he didn't think of THAT?
This review read surprisingly negatively for an A- review. I don't want to get into the whole grade debate, but if the book is a must-read on the subject (as the grade implies) then I definitely want to check it out. However, if it's a superficial and broad look at the issue, as the review seems to imply (with the…
Don't worry Mr Lips, it happens to the best of us. It happened to me with swing in the thirties.
Currently, I am Lord of the Files. Well, or an archduke or something.
I read about this movie somewhere else and it sounded fascinating. I'll have to check it out while I'm temporarily living somewhere civilised.
