I only find melatonin effective when I wash it down with a drinking glass full of whisky.

Man, I'd marry Meat Loaf's adoptive daughter. I imagine Thanksgiving dinners at the in-laws would be FUCKING EPIC.
You met Scott Ian at a Brian Setzer Orchestra show? Man, metal ain't what it used to be. Mind you, as Anthrax is going on 30, it makes me question if the metalness I see in my mind's eye in fact ever was. Now THAT'S an existential crisis. I'd better go buy a motorcycle and get a tattoo.
Good Idea, Poorly Executed?
This does strike me as an interesting way of looking at depression in an insightful manner, but it's too bad if the book doesn't live up to the idea. Also depressing is the fact that now Churchill is perhaps known best as the idiotic talking bulldog shilling insurance in UK adverts…
Cheers Repulsionist, and everybody else for the recommendations. To the Lowe-mobile I go!
They're too airy and twee (is there some adjective we can use to banish 'twee' from the pop-reviewing landscape?) for my tastes, but that being said, I really liked their second album, written when the lead singer was in a depressive mood after breaking up with Laura Marling. It was great for the album, if not for ol'…
I love a lot of the (former) Stiff artists, but never got much into Nick Lowe apart from the obvious stuff. Would this be a good album of his to start with? If not, any recommendations, dear and knowledgeable AV Club readers?
That's Baltimore? It sounds magical.
Let It Come Down is my favourite (even more than Ladies and Gentlemen….I know, heresy). If you prefer their earlier, dronier stuff, I'd got for their Complete Works (Vol. 1) package. It collects a bunch of earlier tracks, singles and b-sides into two very strong discs.
The 500th anniversary of Gerard Depardieu playing the role of Snow White. Also, from now on, I think he should be referred to as 'The Gerard Depardieu'.
True, dear sir. I only meant to imply 'sounds like', not 'influenced by'.
Mr Jefferson, I thought there was such a movement? I vaguely remember reading that the remake of the Italian Job was done without any CGI effects (or with very few) and that several other directors also avoided using CGI. I couldn't find any information on Google; does anybody know anything more?
Seconded on Beneath the Underdog. It's a fascinating read and well worth the time.
This was definitely welcome. Beneath the Underdog is one of my favourite autobiographies (seriously, check it out. He was an excellent and innovative writer as well), but oddly, I know very little of his music. This should fix that!
Melissa, hmmm, I'll stick with the line imagery, as the idea of Win Butler and Zach Condon procreating freaks me out. Good call on the Beirut/Arcade Fire middle ground though. In my eyes, that's not such a bad thing. I love all three bands, but sometimes like something a little less earnest than Arcade Fire and a…
Zinc?
I tend to be a fiction reader, but as a fan of Bogart this might be interesting. Meanwhile, I had no idea that zinc was incorrodible. Fuck, I'm horrible at science. What can't Bogart teach us?
I don't think you completely understand evolution there, old sport.
I'm not judging, Jake. I was just sewing a googly eye onto a pillow this evening.
OR SISTERS. I AM GENDER NEUTRAL.
Hey shit man, I know I was deep in the trenches early on in this fight, but can't we all just get along. UMD, good call! I too love some nice iceberg with blue cheese dressing! Man, sometimes I buy a goddamn head of whatever type of lettuce I can and just rip the shit out of it and eat it raw and alive. Sometimes I…
