Why would the detectives drag in Cooper? I don't think he and Lydia have had more than 2 or 3 scenes together (if that) over the entire run. Plus it isn't as if Cooper advertises his sexual preference.
I thought S1 was just OK, but they really hit the ground running and tightened it up nicely in S2; S3 was where it caught fire and it's been there.
That's what makes Southland great - most shows would have a proverbial neon sign saying "SHERMAN IS DIRTY"; Southland lets it hang there, keeping us wondering about it - and it may or may not ever be resolved for the viewers.
