I gotcha, that makes a lot a sense when you put it that way.

Thats a good point I've never thought about re their obscurity. Their songs are melodic, and very pretty, and not at all "challenging" as you say. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who loves what they did.
I saw them last night, it was my first Hold Steady show in 3.5 years. Unfortunately I was so pumped about the show that I forgot to eat dinner, and I drank a bunch of whiskey, so the show is a bit of a blur. But a very fun blur at that!
Woah woah woah there. I normally hate to be one of those "ehhhh, you didn't include my favorite thing" or "waaaaah, thats not the grade I thought it should've gotten" kind of guys, but how the fuck is Aquemini an intermediate work? That album is their masterpiece!
"Not in a Slint way, but I miss you." That line alone got me into Pinpack
As excited as I am for this boxsert, Seam are so sorely deserving and in need of a lavish reuisue package to bring their increadible music to new light. Even by underrated 90s Touch & Go standards (I'm thinking Silkworm) that band is criminaly overlooked.
Godamn, I never made that connection, but I put Spiderland on when coming down from a bad one once, and it completely captured my state of mind.
Thats another thing that makes me much less worried about Hannibal being canceled. I remember reading when NBC was being tight lipped about the renewal last season that there were a couple cable networks waiting in the wings to snap it up. It makes sense too, the show would literally not change at all by moving to…
I think *knock on wood* that NBC has finally realized that a show with an incredibly fervent fanbase like Hannibal can eke out a living on Friday nights and ultimately make a lot of money for NBC down the line. That plus the international coproduction aspect gives me hope that Hannibal will be on for a while longer.
I thought the first season was very good but not great, but this season has really put it up there with the absolute best shows on TV.
So fucking pumped, I'm screaming like a TUSK-an Raider!
I thought that was pretty genuine emotion on her part. No matter how horrible both Joffrey and Cersei are, he's still your son and seeing him die horrifically in front of you has got to hurt no matter what.
Man, Your Highness is one of the most painfully bad movies I've ever seen. I assumed the amount of talent in that movie (David Gordon Green directing, Danny McBride writing the screenplay, some reliable actors) would make up for the horrible premise. Boy was I ever wrong. This was also when I thought Green doing…
"The Jitters" really is an eerily accurate depiction of depression. Not just the lyrics, but the music fits that theme to a T as well. It might be my favorite song on an album loaded with incredible tracks.
"She was limping left on broken heals when she said 'father can I tell you how a resurrection really feels?'"
Thats a good point about their b-sides, "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly" is a hell of a song.
I couldn't agree more, there's a few songs I like on The Green Album, but being justifiably annoyed that Rivers Cuomo (a great guitarist) couldn't be bothered to write riffs or solos that don't just mirror the melody lines is way different than having a problem with pop song formats.
@avclub-e1bd3c7b2884187cdb13faabfa282fcb:disqus, it really not that hard to ignore what the band did later. If it really bother you that much, just pretend the band that wrote "Beverly Hills" is completely different from the one that wrote "El Scorcho." Same way I can watch Star Wars and when Ben Kenobi mentions The…
Keep in mind that Weezer did introduce me tons of punk and emo bands (I play in an emo band, am fairly active in that scene, and owe a lot of this to listening to Weezer with my friends in middle/high school) but I could not disagree more. Pinkerton isn't a novel or revolutionary melding of aggression, heartfelt…
"Buddy Holly" will never get old for me, but I really don't like "Holiday" at all. Its the only song I skip on The Blue Album or Pinkerton, it just reminds me of a bad Queen song.
