Agreed! People love the "these television characters will never change" bit (see: any review of The Sopranos ever) but it definitely doesn't apply to this show.

Yep. My favourite episode of the season so far, if nothing else for the Mac/Charlie stare

I actually thought it was supposed to be a tan singlet or something and didn't realise the intended interpretation of the picture.

Surprised "Sexy Beast" didn't get a mention - the guy who played Gandhi and a Jewish accountant plays one of the more iconic villains of the 20th century.

This is a band with the lyric "Fuck you and your take it easy before the show so you don't lose your voice and disappoint your fans routine" so an average live show is to be expected. Agree that they overdo the banter

It also doesn't help that the opening shots suggest this anarchic, genuinely different film that never eventuates.

Agreed. I liked Jesse James and Chopper is one of my favourite films, so I surprised at how…underwhelming this film was. I might have enjoyed it if my expectations (due to the cast and director) hadn't been so high, but I was genuinely disappointed, and thought that the references were generally poorly executed. It

I generally love Todd's write-ups of The Sopranos and there's a lot of good ideas going on in this write-up of an excellent episode, but I'm still not entirely sure what VanDerWerff thinks Tony "gets."

This is definitely unreasonable

The problem with Lost isn't that "it was about the mysteries" - it's that about half of the important characters' motivations were left in the shadows for the bulk of the show's running time - which would have been fine if there was any actual explanation for why they were acting that way, except in a lot of cases it

Mostly I think it's so they can digitally alter the films *back* to PG-13 - minus the blood - for airplanes or TV screenings. It probably costs a lot more to edit out squibs
